May I drink alcohol after root canal treatment?

Better not in the first 24 hours because of interactions with medication.

Alcohol can interact with prescribed painkillers or antibiotics. It also slows down the natural healing process after treatment. Wait at least 24 hours, longer if you are taking strong medication. Alcohol dries out the mouth and reduces protective saliva. Red wine can temporarily discolour fillings during the healing phase. Moderate consumption is usually fine again after 48 hours. Excessive alcohol consumption increases the risk of infection. Drink extra water to promote healing. Always follow the specific instructions of your practitioner. A responsible approach ensures optimal recovery.
