Pocket Reduction Treatment

In advanced gum disease (periodontitis), ‘pockets’ form – deepened spaces between the gums and the tooth. Bacteria accumulate in these pockets and can no longer be kept clean properly, which can lead to further breakdown of the bone and tissue around the teeth.

With a Pocket Reduction Treatment, the periodontist makes these spaces accessible and clean again. During the treatment the inflamed tissue is removed and the gums are closed more tightly around the teeth. This helps to prevent further damage and promotes healing of the gums.

Ridge Augmentation

Bone loss in the upper and lower jaw can mean there is insufficient bone and tissue thickness for a crown, bridge or implant that is both aesthetic and functional. This deficiency may be caused by trauma, developmental factors, periodontitis or wearing dentures. 'Ridge augmentation' procedures have been shown to greatly improve the cleanability and appearance of crowns and bridges. These procedures can also increase the chances of successful aesthetic and functional implants.

Gum Grafting

Your gums may have receded for various reasons, including brushing too hard or periodontal disease. Before treatment, we can identify the factors that contribute to this problem. Once these factors are under control, a gum graft may be needed to restore the gums and prevent further gum recession and bone loss.

Extraction

It may be necessary to have a tooth extracted. There are various reasons that may call for this. During the extraction you will feel pressure, but you will feel no pain.
