Placing an implant is a relatively short surgical procedure. On average it takes between 30 and 60 minutes per implant. The duration depends on the location, accessibility and whether there is enough bone. First, the gum is opened to gain access to the jawbone. A small hole is then drilled into which the implant is placed. The implant is then covered with a small screw or temporary cap. The gum is stitched and you are given aftercare instructions. In some cases, several implants are placed in a single session. Your clinician will tell you beforehand roughly how long the treatment will take. With good preparation and aftercare, it is a safe and predictable procedure.
