Implants - Other Aspects

How do I prepare for implant placement?

Make sure your oral hygiene is good, eat in good time and arrange transport if necessary.

Good preparation contributes to successful implant treatment. Brush your teeth thoroughly beforehand, including between the teeth with interdental brushes or floss. Eat a light meal, unless you have been instructed to fast. Do not drink alcohol or use tobacco on the day of the procedure. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a valid form of identification. Some people like to bring someone along for support or transport. Discuss any medication you take with your clinician beforehand. You will be given instructions on eating, rinsing and pain relief for afterwards. Read these in advance so you know what to expect. Asking questions beforehand helps you approach the treatment with confidence.
