Implants - Treatments

What is a mini-implant?

Smaller implants used to stabilise loose dentures.

Mini-implants are narrower (1.8-2.9 mm) than conventional implants. They are often used to stabilise lower dentures. Placement is less invasive and usually requires no bone augmentation. These implants can often be loaded immediately with a denture. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic in a single session. Costs are lower than for standard implants. However, they are less suitable for replacing individual teeth with crowns. Their lifespan is shorter (5-10 years) than that of conventional implants. Aftercare requires special cleaning techniques around the small implants. This solution offers immediate improvement for denture wearers.
