Crowns on implants are attached in one of two ways: screwed or cemented. With a screw-retained crown, the crown is secured with a small screw into the implant. This option makes maintenance and replacement easier. With cemented crowns, a special adhesive (cement) is used to fix the crown in place. The choice depends on the position in the mouth and on aesthetics. A loose crown can be reattached, unless it is damaged. Your clinician will clean the surface before refitting it. If a crown keeps coming loose, a different method of attachment is often chosen. Loose crowns sometimes cause irritation or inflammation. Have this checked promptly to prevent damage to the implant.
