Implants - Treatments

What is a cantilever implant-supported bridge?

A bridge with a free-end tooth that is supported only by implants.

A cantilever bridge uses 1-2 implants to carry an additional "floating" tooth. This technique avoids placing implants in anatomically difficult areas. It requires strong primary implant stability and careful calculation of forces. The risks are higher stress on the screw connections and possible bone loss. Suitable for short gaps where additional implants are not possible. An aesthetic advantage when masking hard-to-reach areas. A night guard is strongly recommended for patients who grind their teeth (bruxism). The lifespan is shorter than that of conventional bridges (on average 8-12 years). Regular X-ray checks detect early signs of overloading damage. Not suitable for areas with high biting forces, such as the molar region.
