Periodontology - Preparation and First Consultation

What happens during an intake for periodontal treatment?

Your gum health is assessed and a treatment plan is drawn up.

During an intake for periodontal treatment, you discuss your symptoms and medical history. The dental hygienist or periodontist carries out a thorough examination. Bleeding, plaque, tartar, recession and pocket depths are assessed. Sometimes X-rays are taken to determine bone loss. All findings are recorded in a periodontal chart. On the basis of these data, a personal treatment plan is drawn up. You will also receive advice on oral hygiene and which products are best for you to use. The intake is the starting point of a programme aimed at preserving your teeth. Afterwards, you will receive an overview of the costs and the expected course of treatment. The consultation usually takes 45 to 60 minutes and is painless.
