Implants - Aftercare and Recovery

Can I play sport after implant placement?

Light activity is fine, but intensive training is not recommended during the first week.

After implant placement, rest is important for optimal healing. Physical exertion should be avoided for the first 48 hours. Light activities such as walking can be resumed after 3-4 days. Intensive sports raise your blood pressure and can cause post-operative bleeding. Contact sports and strength training should be avoided for 2 weeks. Swimming is not recommended because of the risk of infection. Listen to your body and build up gradually. Painkillers can make it harder to judge how much strain you are putting on the area. Discuss any doubts about specific activities with your clinician. Good healing is essential for the long-term success of your implant.
