After an implant has been placed, the surgical site first needs to heal. Flying itself does not harm an implant. Even so, it is advisable to rest during the first few days. Changes in air pressure or stress can affect the healing process. If you have to travel shortly after the procedure, discuss this with your dentist or implantologist. Make sure you take painkillers and your instructions with you. On a long trip, it is reassuring to know where you can turn if complications arise. After a week to ten days, flying is usually no longer a problem. Continue to be careful with eating and oral hygiene while travelling. If in doubt, always ask for a check-up appointment before you leave.
Implants - Aftercare and Recovery
Can I fly with a recently placed implant?
Yes, but allow enough recovery time and discuss it with your clinician.
