Implants - Full Arch Implants

What are the material options for full-arch bridges?

Zirconia, metal-ceramic and PMMA, depending on durability and aesthetics.

Zirconia offers superior aesthetics and strength (over 1,200 MPa), making it ideal for the front of the mouth. Metal-ceramic combines titanium frameworks with porcelain veneering for affordable durability. PMMA (acrylic) is used for temporary bridges because of its rapid fabrication and low cost. Each material has advantages and disadvantages: zirconia is harder to repair, while metal-ceramic can show discolouration at the margins. Digital CAD/CAM technology optimises material use for minimal wear. Patients with bruxism are often given zirconia for its better fracture resistance. Costs range from €8,000 (acrylic) to €35,000 (full zirconia) per jaw.
